Foodless Friday: Five Things

It’s Foodless Friday once again! Here’s what I’m:

Reading: The Paris Wife by Paula McLain. It’s all about Hemingway’s first wife, Hadley Richardson, whom you may have read about in A Moveable Feast. This book is a work of fiction, but written in her voice. I know NYT didn’t care much for it, but I am enjoying it thus far!

Watching: The Greatest. A lovely little movie with a phenomenal cast: Susan Sarandon, Carey Mulligan and Pierce Brosnan. Sarandon and Brosnan are a couple who are grieving and dealing with the loss of their elder son. Carey Mulligan (who plays the girlfriend of the son who died) enters their lives and helps them heal and re-build their family. It is as funny as it is poignant; but not as heavy on the heartstrings as, say a film like Rabbit Hole. The characters manage to be a little quirky; and that’s what sets it apart. Very nice indeed.

Listening to: In The Waiting Line by Zero 7. I was re-watching Garden State, actually. This song always puts me in a mellow and reflective mood. Haunting tune and calming voice.

Wondering: How can anyone, even a cold-blooded vampire, be attracted to someone as vacuous as Bella Swan?

Wearing: Givenchy Rouge Interdit Satin lipstick rouge cancan. Can you believe a friend who doesn’t wear makeup gave me a set of these lipsticks? Yeah. Now I know why it’s called satin!

Have a nice weekend!

  1. I haven’t heard of The Paris Wife, but it looks good. I’m adding it to my to-reads! Thanks for stopping by my blog, and for the suggestion 😉

  2. I didn’t particularly care for “The Paris Wife.” But I think I was the only one in the world (aside from NYT) who feels this way. 🙂

Happy Monday my friend…I hope you have a fantastic week!

  3. I enjoyed the Twilight books- I realize that’s not the cool thing anymore, but I really just don’t care :). I have never been able to make myself watch the movies, though because I’m quite sure they will ruin it for me. Also I am a huge Sookie Stackhouse junkie; Sookie kicks Bella’s ass without even breaking a sweat-. And Garden State never gets old. A link to Sephora! Someone hide my debit card!

    • I often wonder- what did we do before ecommerce? I mean, now we can window shop all the time. Earlier going to the mall was (sort of) special, now we know we can buy the same thing online.

  4. I love the Paris wife. I finished reading it in two days straight. In between the details can get a bit tedious and your heart kind of goes out to Hadley but over all it is a fantastic read, in my opinion.

Bella Swan is the lamest character I have seen on screen. I tried reading the first book and got stiff bored. Never took it up again.

Comments are yummy :)
